Yet another hackathon, you say? Well this one comes with a slight twist. The SLASSCOM 4iR Hackathon, is one that focuses on a unique theme: empowering cyberphysics. Participants are encouraged to pitch products that make use of the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution. This means that any idea not relating to these technologies will require approval from the committee to be presented. These technologies include a wide range of new concepts.
This is part of SLASSCOM’s vision to brand Sri lanka as the next IT startup hub.For this purpose, they’re collaborating with XLabs of Virtusa. The 4iR hackathon is open for both university undergraduates and industry professionals to pitch their products and solutions. Pitching will be done to a panel consisting of industry leaders and investors.
Expecting over a hundred participants (either individual or in teams up to 5 people), 4iR Hackathon has several objectives. One is facilitating startups to embrace the 4th industrial revolution and encourage entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka. They’re also providing a platform for university students to present their pitches to industry experts. In addition, team building and planning is promoted.
When is 4iR happening?
4iR hackathon is scheduled to be held from the 17th to the 18th of March, at the Grand Marquee of Taj Samudra. Kicking off on Saturday morning, participants will be working from 9am on Saturday for 24 hours of continuous coding.
