GamerLK’s Inter-University Esports Championship is back

The esports arena has shown much promise in Sri Lanka, growing in notable popularity over the recent years to being recognized as an official sport in the country. From participating at the Asian Games to players getting sponsored by Activision, the competitive industry has come a long way since its early years. Now, one of its popular annual events is back once again. GamerLK’s Inter-University Esports Championship registrations are now officially open for its 2022 iteration (IUEC 22).

The Esports Championship tournament has been an ongoing annual occasion building a lot of enthusiasm among the university crowd. As per GamerLK, last year’s tournament saw over 50 universities taking part, accounting for over 1,100 registered players.

This year, the tournament is set to kick off on 23 September and will feature 18 titles. This includes Arena of Valor, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty Mobile, Dota 2, League of Legends, Mobile Legends, Rainbow 6, and Valorant as team titles. The individual rounds will feature Call of Duty Mobile, Call of Duty Warzone, Clash Royale, FIFA 21, Free Fire, Mario Kart Tour, PUBG Mobile, Real Cricket, and Rocket League.

Signing up

With the registrations opening up, any student currently enrolled in a university or a higher education institute (government or private) can now submit applications. Of course, students who graduated in 2022 can also join the tournament. Either way, all applicants are required to show proof of current studentship. this can be a university-issued ID, letter from the university, latest exam statement, fee slip, or results sheet.

Additionally, like any other esport event the Inter-University Esports Championship has its set of rules and regulations that the organizers require participants to follow. For those curious, all details could be found via the official website, here.

A majority of the esports scheduled for 2022 were put on hold following the economic crisis. Back in April, GamerLK issued a statement mentioning that its esports were put on hold in light of the country’s situation. Now, the Inter-University Esports Championship 2022 marks a return of GamerLK’s slate of gaming events.
