GIS SOLUTIONS APPOINTED SOLE DISTRIBUTOR FOR THE WORLD’S LARGEST GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS VENDOR, Esri.

GIS Solutions (Pvt) Ltd has been appointed as the exclusive authorized distributor for Esri Inc.  The Esri software is recognized as a revolutionary product that provides unique services to the market in today’s technology driven world.  With Esri, financial institutions such as banks can preview a property and its location, amenities available and accessibility etc before giving out a loan against that property.

 GIS Solutions plans to establish a dealer network to strengthen and reinforce the Esri range in Sri Lanka. What is on offer will be available on cloud as well, he reiterates, making accessibility and availability easier for the users.

 There is a long felt need for this kind of highly specialized software which enables real time management of geographical data and empowers institutions to take accurate and timely decisions, adds Mr Mahawedage. He also added, “All Sri Lankan universities are now teaching GIS Technology and some have also commenced MSc courses in Geomatics. These graduates use GIS analysis to determine areas best for agriculture, plan roads and infrastructure and help mitigate natural disasters. With Esri, they will be able to solve problems and take critical decisions that shape Sri Lanka in the decades to come.”

 GIS Solutions plans to work with key stakeholders in areas that would benefit from usage of geographical information systems software – Mr Mahawedage says that the institutions engaged in mapping and disaster management services, among others, would benefit tremendously from using such software.
