Many of the rumors proved to be true. The new iPhone does have dual-SIM support. The watch has FDA approval and can monitor your heartbeat. The speaker got a few updates too but they’re inconsequential. Here’s everything Apple announced at its annual September unveiling in 2018.

The Apple Watch Series 4 with an ECG monitor

First off there’s the new Apple Watch Series 4. This latest version of the Apple Watch comes with a faster processor and a new gyroscope, which can detect if you fall. If it does, then it’ll send a text message to your emergency contacts.

Furthermore, it also offers a host of features to monitor your heartbeat including your ECG. The Watch Series 4 also features a larger display, a slimmer body that offers better reception, and a new digital crown with haptic feedback. It’s by holding down this crown that you can use the Watch Series 4 to monitor your ECG.

The Apple Watch Series 4 is priced at $399 with GPS and $499 for models with cellular support.

The flagships iPhones

As with every year, the stars of the show are the new iPhones. This year the rumors were true. Apple is indeed giving us three new models. Among these, the flagship models are the iPhone XS and its elder brother the iPhone XS Max.

Both phones are waterproof with an IP68 rating and are powered by the new A12 Bionic Chip. Compared to their predecessor, the iPhone XS, and XS Max offers 30 minutes of extra battery life. Furthermore, they also offer Dual-SIM support with the Chinese versions coming with a tray for two SIM cards.

Furthermore, both phones have a 12MP dual rear camera, which borrows a few tricks from Google. They also have a 7MP front camera. So what’s the difference between the two phones? The iPhone XS Max has a 6.5-inch Super Retina OLED display. The iPhone XS, in contrast, has a smaller 5.8-inch screen.

The iPhone XS is priced at $999 for 64GB of storage. The iPhone XS Max is priced at $1,099 for the same amount of storage.

The cheaper iPhone XR

The third phone that Apple announced was the iPhone XR, which comes in a bunch of colors. It features a 6.1-inch LCD screen, which Apple is calling, “Liquid Retina.” Interestingly, it doesn’t have a home button. Instead, it utilizes haptic touch for navigation. Like its elder brothers, the XR also comes with the A12 processor and a 7MP front camera. It also has a 12MP rear camera but this one isn’t a dual camera.

The iPhone XR will be priced at $749 for 64GB of storage.

Software updates and the Apple Homepod

Finally, there’s the most inconsequential announcements Apple made, which were related to the Apple Homepod speaker. It can now search for song lyrics and have multiple times. Besides this, Apple announced that its latest software updates tvOS and iOS 12 will be arriving on September 12th with macOS Mojave coming on 24th September.
