If you, like a good friend of mine are a Sneaker aficionado, then you will definitely like this. With smart devices galore in the market, it’s nice to see something not so usual for a change. Meet the Vixole smart shoes. Yes, that’s right. In a world of smart devices, why not a smart shoe?
What’s so special about the Vixole smart shoes?
Well, what’s not? First off the shoe’s rear design can be customized to your liking with the use of a smartphone app. Yes. The Vixole smart shoes come equipped with flexible LED displays that light up the way for people walking behind you. If you have the smartphone app installed, then you can pretty much anything you like on these shoes. From logos, to text to anything in-between.
Think of it as a way to truly express yourself without getting off on the wrong foot. If you’re brave enough, you can even take a picture from your smartphone’s camera and display it on the shoes.
As far as customization goes, you can create your own unique designs, use existing images, react to your favorite tunes or your movement and many more. In case you were wondering, the Vixole smart shoes are also water resistant and can charge wirelessly.
An interesting element to note was that the API for the Vixole smart shoes is completely open. So basically anyone can start playing around with these and include whatever features they like. Think about how cool it would be if these were able to interact with VR games. The possibilities are endless.
But wait, there’s more
That’s not all though. You can also navigate through vibration on the Vixole smart shoes. You can also track your steps and even receive notifications. If you meet someone else with a pair of Vixole smart shoes, you can interact with them via NFC.
If you’re a Pokemon fan, then you’ll love this. The Vixole Matrix Shoes will actually vibrate when the wearer is near Pokémon.
As for charging the shoes, on a full charge, the battery would last you for around 8 hours. A full charge takes around 2 hours. Not exactly stellar when it comes to battery life. But hey, at least when it dies, you can still use it as a regular pair of shoes rather than it become a brick like a smartphone or tablet. It would also have been cool if they could incorporate a method to charge the Vixole smart shoes by kinetic energy generated from walking. That way charging these shoes is a walk in the park, literally.
How much will it be?
It should be noted that the Vixole Smart shoes are not exactly cheap. But then again they’re not going to cost you an arm or leg either if you compare them to shoes from brands such as Nike or Adidas. If you’re interested, you can check them out here and back them up for as low as $160.
As of today, the goal of $30,000 has been met and has actually gone to over $215,000, almost 720% of the initial goal with another 7 days remaining for the campaign to end. Estimated shipping is scheduled for June 2017.
