Taking notes has always been an inevitable part of human cognition. From the prehistoric clay tablets of Mesopotamia to the 90s TextEdit and Notepad to today’s Notion and Evernote, nothing has changed much in the humble art of note-taking. You simply jot down your thoughts on some medium — on a clay tablet or a piece of paper or an app on your smartphone.
Of course, nobody’s using a clay tablet to take notes these days. We have better alternatives. Notion and Evernote are the most popular ones. Even Google Keep and Apple Notes can be handy at times. But sometimes all you need is an app like Nute.
Simple, but effective
Nute is a note-taking app. It’s a super minimal product that just lets you start typing whatever you want. Everything you type on Nute will remain there even if you close it.
Nute is lightweight and it loads in an instant, even on slow connections. The app has no account system, so there’s no user registration or login, and no syncing across devices. You can, however, download whatever you type in the app as a .txt file on your system.
Nute is simply a convenient place for writing things down. A piece of paper you grab to write when you have an idea. It doesn’t help you do anything smarter or more organized.
You may ask what makes Nute stand out from the big heads mentioned above.
For starters, It’s a doorless app — an app that function without signing you into an account.
Nute is a PWA, so you can install it on almost any operating system. It works offline.
It’s also free and has no ads or trackers.
I use Nute to help me remember things I’d most likely forget. Hopefully, you find it useful too.
To install, visit nute.app from Chrome or Safari. On Android, tap the menu button and select Add to Home screen from the options. On iOS, tap the share button and select Add to Home screen from the options.
