SLT is offering free unlimited data for its Fibre and ADSL home broadband customers in line with Independence Day. However, it will be interesting to see how far the operator can handle the traffic given the expected usage across the board. Previous attempts at one-day “free unlimited data” offers haven’t always worked out well for consumers.
True unlimited data has been a topic of contention for many years. Despite the long-overdue demand for the service, SLT has yet to offer it. However, the telco has recently increased its capacity in a bid to bring its service as close as possible to uncapped data. Last year, SLT announced that home broadband users can now surf the internet for free between midnight and 7 a.m.
This year, the telco launched a suite of speed-based “unlimited” fibre packages. But these are anything but unlimited, as each offering includes an FUP limit.
