If you’re someone starving for some new Star Wars content, then you’re in luck. The Book of Boba Fett, a mini-series focusing on the infamous bounty hunter from the franchise will be premiering on December 29, 2021.
The character was initially assumed to be dead after succumbing to the Sarlacc pit back in Star Wars Episode VI. However, the second season of the Mandalorian revealed that Boba Fett (Temeura Morrison) had survived the dreaded Sarlacc pit. Fett later managed to retrieve his armor with the help of assassin Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen). Later, they teamed up with Mando to retrieve Grogu from the empire.
The finale of the season teased a closer look at the bounty hunter, as both Fett and Shand took over Jabba’s former palace on Tatooine. The announced series expects to follow this up.
Expectations
The series will see the adventures of Boba Fett and his partner Fennec Shand. As indicated by the Mandalorian season two post-credit scene, Boba may be setting himself up as an Outer Rim crime lord.
Disney’s official synopsis reads as follows:
“The Book of Boba Fett,” a thrilling Star Wars adventure, finds legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the Galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate.”
In case you were wondering, both Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are helming the project as executive producers. Robert Rodriguez, who directed the Mandalorian episode that featured the bounty hunter is also an executive producer.
More Star Wars on the way
Of course, the Boba Fett series isn’t the only Star Wars show on the horizon. This month saw the release of Star Wars: Visions, which is an anime anthology series. Other related works in development include Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi along with the third season of the Mandalorian.
