Dutch BPO firm embeds itself in Sri Lanka

Good news: more jobs just opened up in the BPO industry. ISM eCompany, a Rotterdam-based specialist in e-commerce and e-learning, signed an agreement with the Board of Investment to invest $3 million in setting up shop here.

This is a huge win for Sri Lanka’s IT industry. ISM in addition to a hefty client portforlio (Akazo Nobel, Chelsea FC and Seiko to name a few) has some globally renowned products like Sana and Easygenerator under its belt, and the company also has branches in Ukraine, New York and Singapore. The Sri Lankan branch of ISM is slated to eventually grow to 160 specialists servicing the Asia Pacific market. ISM is set to invest heavily in educating its employees to international standards.

“This investment has to secure our position in the growing Asia Pacific market,” stated the founder of ISM, Jan Kees de Jager. “With Colombo as our home base we think we have chosen a great strategic location. One of great spirit, vibrant business environment, enthusiastic people and magnificent sceneries.”
