Play Expo 2023: Gamer.LK’s annual fan-favorite event is back

Gamer.LK has announced Play Expo & Colombo Comic Expo 2023, the annual event centered around gaming, pop culture, and the digital entertainment landscape in Sri Lanka. Scheduled for the 9th and 10th of December 2023 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition & Convention Center (SLECC), the event comes back for the first time since the pandemic, signaling renewed interest in the space.

Play Expo builds upon the legacy of the Sri Lanka Cyber Games – the first major Esports tournament series in the country which began back in 2008. This year’s event will feature an array of over 20 popular Esports titles which include team games such as Free Fire, PUBG MOBILE, Call of Duty Mobile, Mobile Legends, Valorant, League of Legends, DOTA 2, and many more including individual titles such as Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken 7, Clash Royale, F1 23, FC 24 (FIFA) and more. The tournament has been endorsed by the Sri Lanka Esports Association and the results contribute to the national player rankings opening up opportunities for winners to be enlisted for national Esports team roster consideration.

The event also includes the Colombo Comic Expo (CCx), a celebration of geek and pop culture which brings together the largest gathering of cosplayers in Sri Lanka for the cosplay ramp walk. Since 2013, Gamer.LK has promoted cosplay in Sri Lanka, offering a safe platform for participants to display their creativity and skills in costumes and skits. CCx also hosts an Artists Alley, spotlighting Sri Lanka’s independent artists and enabling attendees to buy unique artwork directly from them, thus supporting the local art community.

Additionally, this year’s event features Gamer.LK’s Creator Connect, a gathering for content creators from various fields including artists, musicians, game streamers, and bloggers. They will interact with fans and participate in panels and entertainment skits. Organized by Gamer.LK with TikTok as the official entertainment partner, Creator Connect aims to celebrate the evolving digital content creation landscape in Sri Lanka.
